10th Assembly: Ogun Inaugurates Elected Members As Oluomo Becomes Speaker Again

The member representing Ifo 1 Constituency in the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Olakunle Oluomo has again been elected as the Speaker of the 10th Assembly for the consecutive time.
Oluomo was first elected as Speaker during the ninth Assembly in 2019.
The lawmaker is a seasoned legislator who has served in the Ogun State House of Assembly for over a decade.
Oluomo was elected as the Deputy Speaker of the eighth Assembly and has been a key member of several committees in the House.
His emergence followed Tuesday’s inauguration of the 10th Assembly by the proclamation of Governor, Dapo Abiodun who was represented by his Deputy, Noimot Salako- Oyedele.
Oluomo was unanimously elected by the 26 members in the House after he emerged as the sole nominee to the position.
Motion for his nomination was moved by Hon. Musefiu Lamidi Temitope Adedeji, (Ado-Odo-Ota II) nominated Hon. Owode waliu (ijebu east) seconded the motion.
In the same vein, member representing Yewa South Constituency, Hon. Ajayi Latifat was also elected as the deputy speaker of the 10th Ogun State House of Assembly.
Ajayi was nominated by Oluwayemisi Bakare of Ijebu Ode State constituency with the nomination seconded by Olusegun Odunuga from Ijebu North II State constituency.
Speaking after his election, Honorable Oluomo expressed his gratitude to his colleagues for electing him as the Speaker of the House.
He also assured the members of the Assembly and the people of Ogun State of his commitment to providing equitable and transparent leadership.
He equally promised to work with all members of the Assembly to promote the development of the state and ensure that the legislative arm of government plays its role effectively in the governance of the state.
He said “I will ensure that the Assembly maintains a good working relationship with the executive arm of government. The success of the government depends on the cooperation and collaboration of all arms of government”.
