2023: Get your PVC, don’t risk disenfranchisement – Balogun  Afeez tells Ogun residents

 

ABOKUTA — A Federal House of Representatives Hopeful, Hon. Balogun Olaniyi Afeez has appealed to residents of Ogun state to pick up their permanent voters card at the nearest Independent Electoral Commission office in other not to risk being disenfranchised in the 2023 election exercise.

Balogun who appealed to residents of Abeokuta South federal constituency to ensure they obtain their Permanent Voters’ Card (PVC) at any nearest Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office close to them.

Yesterday, the new residential commissioner of Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, Mr Niyi Ijalaye during press conference said over 651,500 permanent voters cards were abandoned since 2011 and 2017, appealing to the people of Ogun state to pick up their cards as soon as possible to validate their eligibility to vote their choice of leaders in the forthcoming election.

He equally advised the youths to resist temptation to be used as political thugs or sell their votes for money as some bad elements in politics will approach them.

“As the elections draws nearer, I want to appeal to the good people of Ogun state to obtain their Permanent Voters’ Card before the exercise in order for them to exercise their franchise. Everyone has the right to vote and be voted for.

I want to appeal to the youth to desist from thugerry and violence during electioneering campaign. Don’t allow any politician to use you against electoral laws and the constitution of Nigeria. Don’t forget, your future is more important than anybody’s political ambition. ” He added”

We want the youths to reflect deeply on the profound import of exercising their sacred franchise on the election day and what it means for the future of the state, our children and how and who shapes our society for years to come. He said

We call on youths to reject any temptation to sell their votes to mercantile politicians who understand politics strictly from the viewpoint of commerce where votes are bought and sold, or be used as political thugs.
