Alake meets Shonekan’s son, describes death a global loss

The Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo on Wednesday decried the demise of the Former Nigeria’s Interim President, Ernest Shonekan.

Oba Gbadebo described Sonekan’s death as a great lost not only for Nigerians but also for the global communities, authorities, companies and cooperate bodies.

Alake made the regret while receiving the the deceased’s son, Adeboye Sonekan and some Chief Itoko, the hometown of Shonekan at his Place in Ake, Abeokuta, Ogun state capital.

The Manarch stressed that the 82 days reign of Shonekan as the President of the nation was a period of peace and tranquility.

“Authority, company, business and Cooperate governance, we lost somebody who in the eighties, we had to wait for the UAC budget as a major input in Federal government’s annual preparation of budget.

He added “We join the global Community also in mourning a great Nigerian who for 82 days was used by God to maintain the unity of this country and he has done a lot for this country and when the time comes for somebody to take a rest.

Alake told the deceased family “We are with you, you are not alone in all this and God will console you, we pray that God will replace EO Shonekan for Egba, another Egba son will do better in the mighty name of Jesus, we pray that you will surpass is own achievement to.

He added “We pray that as we are known as number one amongst every group in this country, we shall always surpass him, we would get another Egba son that will surpass his many achievement in Jesus name amen.

The deceased son, Adeboye Shonekan who spoke to Journalists described his father as a man of integrity and honesty, adding that he would love to be like him (his father) in terms of those qualities.

On the burial arrangement of his father, he said “We are still making consultation that’s why we have come to visit Alake”.

“I will miss him so much. He was a man of integrity, he was a man of honesty, he loved everything about being a true christian. I will like to be like him in term of integrity, honesty and his other good qualities. My last moment with him is personal.
