Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Agbado Ward Four, Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State, are crying foul over the recent list of Councilorship candidates released by the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGISEC), alleging manipulation by some leaders in the ward.

The APC members took to the streets in protest on Monday, demanding justice, while questioning the integrity of some of their party leaders.

The controversy surrounds the unexpected announcement of Wasiu Amoho, also known as Alado, as the winner despite not participating in the primary election.

According to the protesters, Seyi Ijale, who emerged victorious by seven points, was surprisingly omitted from the list of candidates released after the election.

The ward members however staged the peaceful demonstration at the APC secretariat in Abeokuta, Ogun state capital carrying placards with various inscriptions, while demanding justice on the development.

The ward members alleged that some of the party leaders at the ward replaced the name behind the back of others.

Speaking on behalf of the protesters, Kunle Onifade said they were demanding answers, calling on those who allegedly elected Alado to come forward and reveal when and where the primary election took place.

His words “During the Primary Elections for ward councilorship, Wasiu Amoho aka Alado did not partake in the primary, it was Seyi Ijaile. Seyi Ijaile won by seven points Alado had no point because he was not even part of the exercise but to our surprise, he was the one that was announced as the winner.

“All of us at ward four are insisting that we want Seyi Ijaile. Let those who picked Amoho come out and tell us when and where they had their primary election. When the list of candidates was released Seyi Ijaile who is the real winner was not on the list. How come? Some of the APC leaders in ward four were the ones who manipulated the list.

Also, one of the protesters, Olabode Ajibade said “We are just worried about the list that was released after the Councilorship Election in our ward. The candidate on the list Wasiu Amoho but he was not the person that we elected. We elected Seyi Ijaile.

Ajibade stressed that some party leaders at the ward are equally unaware of the development, while alleging that some leaders within the party did the manipulation.

The protesters are calling on the leadership of the APC in the state to intervene in the matter, demanding justice.

“We are calling on our leaders in the state because we know that APC is not a party of manipulation. It’s a party where the truth is upheld”, Ajibade said.

We want the leadership of APC in the state to intervene in the matter and let the mandate return to the rightful owner.
