Complete Wasinmi Airport Project Before Leaving Office, Ogun Monarch Urges Abiodun

Olu of Wasinmi, Ewekoro, Ogun State, Ọba Sufianu Jolaosho, has appealed to Governor Dapo Abiodun not to abandon the Wasinmi Passenger International Airport project  initiated by the immediate past administration of Senators Ibikunle Amosun, before the exit of his government in 2027.

Recalled that the project was part of the Ogun State Development Plan,  that focuses on the safety of the people on transportation by air and the on socio-economic development of the state.

But, Ọba Jolaosho, while addressing newsmen on Monday at a press briefing to Mark his first year coronation ceremony on the throne, urged Abiodun to look into the project and keep his promise to the people of Wasinmi and the state that he would not abandon any project before leaving office in 2027.

He explained that having the airport project in Wasinmi would develop his community and attract both local and international investors to come and invest their businesses in area, which in turn would provide direct and indirect jobs for the residents and bring rapid development to the town.

The traditional ruler, who said that the governor had at a function promised to look into the project, stressed that having both Passenger airport in Wassimi and Agro Cargo International airport in Ilishan, Remo, would boost economic growth and bring more development of the state.

“When we went for a function at Itori, the governor spoke on airport project at Wasinmi that the project is still on his mind and we should exercise patient with him that there are still many projects on ground to be touched and completed by his administration” he noted

The monarch also mentioned the 10 kilometers road construction project from the community to Ogun River, saying that when such road is completed, it would increase accessibility and mobility as well as easing transportation difficulty of people, goods and services in the area from one place to another.

“The contractors came and meet me at the palace and said from Iyana Mosan to Sigo, My chiefs ans i walked with them to see how the construction would go, but I can’t say the kilometers, but it will be 9 to 10 kilometers, they want to construct the road from Wassimi to Ogun Rivers and I have told contractors handling the road to employ our people in building the project” he added
