Facebook, Wassap, Twitter Outage: Nigerians Share Feelings Hours After Development

Hours after Facebook, Twitter and Wassap outage, social media users in Nigeria have shared their feelings over the development.
There was a seven-hour interruption on the platform on Monday which prevented users’ access globally.
But social media powerhouse and Silicon Valley tech giant on Monday night blamed the outage on a “faulty configuration change” on the backbone routers that coordinate network traffic.
Many Nigerians have begun to suspect the Federal government when the outage started. They alleged the federal government of trying to perpetrate something unholy.
Vox pop with some socal media users in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital, indicated that while some Nigerians can do without socal media, it may be difficult for some to exist without staying connected online.
The Vox pop also revealed that life may be boring and meaningless for some people if socal media goes into extinction.
An educationist, Bose Akintola said that the outage had clearly shown that humanity and social media are inseparable, affirming that social media, especially Facebook, Wassap and Twitter have become part of human system.
Describing the period of outage as a period of loneliness, Akintola disclosed that she couldn’t have known the potency and the importance of socal media until the occurrence.
“I felt separated and lonely when I couldn’t access my Facebook. I first thought it was a network failure only to receive message from MTN that the socal media were down worldwide.
“I practically couldn’t do anything than to sleep. I now know that my life is too dependent on socal media. If social media stop existing I may not be fine.
A pastor in one of the popular and giant churches in the country (name withheld) saw the outage as a test for, especially God’s children which revealed that many Christians spend more time staying online than the time they spend in the presence of God.
He said “it’s now clear that some Christians love Facebook, Wassap and Instagram more than they love God and spend time browsing more than the time they spend in God’s presence. The way this thing is going is so alarmy.
