Hoodlums Attack polling unit in Ogun, destroy ballot box

Thugs on Saturday attacked the Governorship and State House of Assembly elections in Abeokuta area of the state.
The incident took place at Ward 13 Polling unit 22, Itori-Oke Abeokuta South local government area of the State.
Fackt News reports that the pandemonium started when a loggerhead broke out between an African Democratic Congress (ADC) polling agent and an unidentified person over unrelated issues.
Fackt News also reports that an APC polling agent had earlier accused journalists who were observing the election, challenging them of taking pictures during the electioneering process.
While the Journalists were making an effort to calm the angry agent, one of the hoodlums suddenly stormed the scene, forcing the journalist to abruptly stop their duty.
Our reporter gathered that other hoodlums, some of whom were masked, promptly took advantage of the situation to attack the polling unit with axes and machetes.
INEC officials, voters and observers immediately scampered to safety to avoid being attacked by the hoodlums .
Our reporter also gathered that the hoodlums attacked the security operative who had quickly carried the ballot box to prevent it from being hijacked, forcefully took it (ballot box) from her and mashed it on the ground.
The AA Assembly candidate who later spoke to Journalists after escaping the scene, alleged that the Presidential election favoured the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), hence the attack.
A voter who spoke on the condition of anonymity alleged that the disruption could be orchestrated by APC thugs, because the polling unit is a stronghold of the PDP.
He added that from observation the hoodlums had also seen the AA candidate win the polling unit.
At the time of filing this report, it was disclosed that the Nigeria Police Force had visited the area and restored peace.
