I have not regretted singing Hip-Hop-Gospel Music
My name is David Gbeleyi. I am an artiste and my state name is Brainy Davies
When did you start singing?
I started singing while I was in school- Ogun state Institute of Technology in 2015 and ever since then I have been trying to get myself together because the music industry can be very tough. I got a job and came up with my own Record Label, Air-Boy Label. I have been able to sign two artistes and two DJ.
Your educational background
For my primary education, I attended the Nigeria Navy Primary School. After some years a left the school to complete my primary education in my mother’s school, Toluwani Nursery and Primarily school. For my secondary education, I attended Sango-Otta High School in Ogun state and later proceeded to Gateway Polytechnic, now, Ogun state Institute of Technology.
What Type Of Music do you do?
I started singing Hip-Hop music and later changed to Hip -hop-Gospel. My music has messages and they are deep.
Why did you switch from pure Hip Hop to gospel-Hip-hop?
My mom encouraged me to do so due to moral decadence in the industry. She never wanted me to cultivate the habit of smoking, womanizing and drugging as do many of these hip hop artistes. I had to comply and today, I haven’t regretted it.
It means you switch to gospel to please your mom?
No, I just felt like she didn’t want me to go take the wrong way. She didn’t want me to join the bad eggs in the society and ever since she advised me, I have always wanted to be an artiste with difference.
Have you regretted singing gospel songs
I have never regretted it. I found peace, I feel I am doing the right thing. I know I will be able to strike a difference and I won’t be like other artiste with baby mama due to the nature of their music. This gospel song has imparted my life so well. I know with this I won’t be like other singers who live carelessly.
How many tracks do you have so far?
I have five tracks already. I have Up to God, Money, Mercy, Duro and Calm down.
Why did you choose Music?
While growing up, I love music and I love playing musical instruments. Most times when I am in church, I like to sit close to the drummer and other instrumentalists. I later joined the choir and that was how I started singing.
Who is your role model in the industry?*
While I was growing up, my love was for wizkid but I lost interest in him when he started smoking. My role model now is Banky W. He is decent.
If you have opportunity to change anything in the music industry, what will you change?
So many things, first, the artistes new to stop living fake lives. Many youths in the society are following those fake lives and that’s why they want to get money by any means available. That is why we have cybercrimes all over and ladies are going into prostitution.
