ABEOKUTA – The Governorship running mate under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ogun state,  Hon. Adekunle  Akinlade has vowed to remain loyal to the party and its leadership by all courses.

Akinlade also reaffirmed that the party remains his number one priority, even as he pledged to work in harmony with the leadership of Ogun PDP to ensure the party is repositioned to win  the 2027 election.

The former Governorship running mate disclosed this on Thursday during a meeting with leaders and members of the party at the PDP Secretariat in Abeokuta, the state capital.

Akinlade, contrary to rumors of rift between him and the former Governorship candidate, Hon. Ladi Adebutu, disclosed that  he has no reason to be in loggerhead with Adebutu because “the party’s success remains paramount to him”.

Akinlade said “I will continue to respect Hon Ladi Adebutu. I will continue to respect the institution of this party. I will continue to respect the leadership of this party. I will make sure that this party is repositioned and packaged to win a majority if not all the positions we are going to fight for in the 2027 elections.

“I have, since the Supreme court ruling on January 19th, called together those who are closer to me and I decided that I will not be vying for the position of Deputy governor at any point in the future, that whoever is going to vye for governor will decide by himself who he will choose as Deputy.

He noted that conflict of interest is a norm in political parties, appealing that such should nor be allowed to tear the party aside.

“Truly there will be conflict of  interest and it may be though. My job as a party man is to support such individuals whom the party decides. We all have a duty to support such a person to make sure that our party wins that election come 2027
