Indefinite Strike: Abiodun, NLC To Meet Wednesday
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Ogun state said it will be meeting governor Dapo Abiodun and his team on wednesday 29, following workers indefinite strike in the state.
The congress’ Chairman, Comrade Emmanuel Bankole disclosed this to newsmen in Abeokuta, the state capital on Tuesday.
Organised labour in the state had in a congress on Monday announced the decision to commence indefinite strike over unremitted 21 months deductions, unremitted contributory pension and non implementation of the statutory consequential adjustment of 33.3 percent to the state pension.
Among several others, the workers also accused the state Government of not honouring a clause of the 2020 Memorandum of Understanding on joint review of the agreement signed to suspend the industrial action two years ago.
But Bankole disclosed that the NLC had received invitation from the governor to discuss the way out of the current distress.
Bankole said the outcome of the meeting will determine whether the strike which began today would continue or not.
He said “We have received invitation to meet His Excellency tomorrow at 12 pm and we hope that as we will be arising from that meeting, all these issues will be resolved because we believe he has the capacity if the willingness is there, so we are looking forward to tomorrow to meet our governor “.
