Mixed feelings as gov. election holds in Ogun
There were mixed feelings as Ogun residents moved out on Saturday to elect their next governor and House of Assembly Members.
In Ogun Central, there was low turnout in Abeokuta South Local Government of the state while there was massive turnout in most polling units in Abeokuta North.
In Ibara ward 15 unit 010, Abeokuta South, accreditation started at 8: 55 with a very scanty number of voters on the queue, the same situation was recorded at polling unit 6 Ibara Oke-Oke-Ilewo of the same ward where voting started at 9:00 am.
There were several empty polling booths in Abeokuta North – Ward 11, unit 33, Oke-Sokori area of the local government which had been deserted as at 9:13 am.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials who spoke to Journalists at the polling unit disclosed that only six persons out of 51 accredited voters had come out to vote.
Voters at Ward 11 unit 34 in Totoro-Sokori, Abeokuta North lamented the distorted network despite early commencement of the process at 8:15 am.
Generally, there was massive turnout in most of polling units in the local government.
Our reporters observed that unlike the presidential election, the poll started early as election materials arrived on time.
However, the BVAS functioned well in most of the polling units visited in Abeokuta metropolis.
There was heavy security with different security personnel including the military at different strategic locations to monitor illegal vehicular and pedestrian movement.
