MY INTEREST IN AGEING AND THE SENIOR

The position of old age is a journey for everyone alive, no matter the age. The interest is not just about the issue of ageing, but the future of older people in our complex society. The day-to-day living of senior with various challenges.
Old age is one of the less spoken issues, and most misunderstood aspect of life in our society, because we generally pay less attention to it. Funny but true, most people believe that they will look the same way they are now in ten or twenty years time. This has put the senior in a pitiable condition especially those with few or no alternative plan for this stage of life.
My interest in writing about ageing was borne out of general ignorance, various pains and abuses that can be seen in our society. The pains of ageing without a plan, rejection, desertion , grief, regret, disloyalty, unstable health condition, cultural and social myths about ageing and so many others that can not be described with words.
My desire is to provide information on the journey of ageing as it is laced with challenges, relating with seniors, educating the younger generation on likely attitudes of the seniors and providing help either as a carer or as a responsible member of the Society.
It also aim to assist the senior in the likely expectation of the journey of ageing, and how to overcome it.
In addition, dementia is one of the most traumatising and wrongly addressed condition of the senior, in recent time . Few publications and symposia have addressed this issue in our modern society.
My purpose of writing this book is to create awareness on the misconception of dimentia and other related infirmities as a challenge of ageing, providing help and making the later days of seniors memorable.
Today’s younger people will surely be the seniors tomorrow.
