He was optimistic of emerging as the president in 2023, having visited the Alake again this time.
He said “Every time I visited Alake since my political journey, I am always been victorious after the visit so I am always happy when I visit and I know that because I have visited him today, the outcome will be a victory. I want to thank you Kabiesi because of your encouragement and support all the time. I must also thank my dear brother, prince Dapo Abiodun, the governor amongst governors of the 36 states of the federation. He has built eight years legacies in almost four years.
“I am here not to campaign because we are not allowed to campaign in the palace, anyway, I cannot camping at home. Why should I be campaigning in my own home. If I need to campaign in my own home, then I’m in trouble. I have came only to inform the Kabiesi of the progress that I have made so far in my journey and we have made a lot of progresses.
“Our state has produce may great people- presidents, vice president. We have produced some of the leading men and women but 2023 is a moment when history calls on us to produce another leader from this state by the grace of God and there is very good reason, when I was called upon to serve as the vice president of Nigeria, it was purely competitive as many know I’m not a politician but now I cannot say that I’m not a politician and by share providence I was elected as the vice president to president Muhammadu Buhari has been extremely fair to me in various way.
The Vice President disclosed that President Muhammadu Buhari had exposed him to every aspect of governance, stressing that the President has also taught him the art of governing a nation in fairness and equity, hence, he is capable to lead the nation as the president.
” President Buhari has exposed me to every aspect of governance. Many time that I have served as the Acting President, on each of the occasion, he would tell me that I should just take any step I want to take without he interfering.
“After seven and half years of serving the president, being able to see for myself what he has done right, I think that when the opportunity now arose, for me to decide whether or not I will run for the president of Nigeria, I have only one question to ask myself, and the question whether I will be faitful to the people of the federal republic of Nigeria to serve with all my might and mind.
Osinbajo recalled that he has served several great people sacrificially in different capacity even at most difficult time.
” I have seven others in various capacity and I have given everything. There is no one amongst those that I have served, everyone of those people that I have served, in their most difficult moment, not when things were going fine, in moment when there lives were under threat, I was with them. Sometimes I was the only one standing with them. Not one of can truly say that in their most difficult time, I haven’t stood for them.
Governor Abiodun him his earlier remark expressed gratitude to Osinbajo for support him to emerge as the governor of the state.”We are grateful that he stood by us and he is making us proud in Nigeria. He has served meritoriously for seven years.
Earlier in his remark, Oba Gbadebo said the VP has paid his dues by serving others meritoriously, hence, the Egbas would give necessary support to his ambition.
