Nigeria suffering lack of ethics, values not bad leadership – NCEVEC

The National Community Ethics And Values Environmental Compliant Corps (NCEVEC) has blamed the challenges bedeviling Nigeria on loss of ethics amongst the citizens.
The Zonal Commander of the Corps, Akinola Olusegun Gabriel in an interview with journalists in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital at the weekend argued that leadership is not the problem facing Nigeria as believed but loss of values and ethics amongst the people.
Against the backdrop of this deficit, the Zonal Commander disclosed that the corps was set up to sensitize people on ethics so as to restore vanity on the Nigerians scene.
Akinola stressed that NCEVEC is about ethics, integrity, honesty and integrity, regretting that Nigerian society is devoid of these.
He said “NCEVEC is about ethics. Ethics is a father of discipline, integrity, honesty, cleanses, Obedient. There’s is need for ethics that ethics consists of codes and that is code for doing everything and doing them rightly. Ethics is about keeping to the rules to ensure things are done right. To ensure that you maintain your integrity, to ensure that you have the mind of God.
“What we are facing in the country today is as a result of lack of ethics. Not keeping to the law, not keeping to the rules, not understanding our values, these are the problems that we have. You choose a government and you are complaining that that leader is bad, meanwhile the leader was close amongst us, so where is the rule?
“We have been going about sensitizing people from secondary school about ethics. If you don’t comply, you are heading for doom. What we are facing in the country today is because ethics are not being followed.
He added “NCEVEC is not out to compete with existing organisations, we want to synergise with them, them cannot do it alone,. our is for protection, ours is for prevention, ours is for defence of ethics.”
The Ogun state Commander, CC Obasanjo disclosed that the Corps is currently in synergy with Ogun State Waste Management Authority, policing the residents that violate the law against the Ministry of environment in terms of waste management, open dedication, indecent dressing.
Also, the Ekiti state Commander, Mrs Oluyomi Olabisi, disclosed that the corps had begun recruitment of officers in the state, this she said is part of plans to extend the corps’ move to restore sanity across the nation.
