Nigeria Yet to Harness Full Potential of Entertainment Industry – Comedian Oluso’agba
Fast-rising comedian Abiodun Oluwakayode, popularly known as Oluso-agba, has called on the Federal Government to increase investment in Nigeria’s entertainment industry, saying that it as a viable sector capable of boosting the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and reducing unemployment.
The comedian made the appeal during a press conference held in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, ahead of his forthcoming comedy show titled “The Confession.”
According to him, the event, themed “Unscripted,” is expected to bring together top entertainers, industry stakeholders, and fans from across the country.
Oluso’agba argued that the creative and entertainment industry remains one of Nigeria’s untapped economic frontiers.
According to him, many young Nigerians are thriving in comedy, music, film, and digital content creation, yet lack the necessary governmental support to scale up their craft and contribute meaningfully to national growth.
He said “Governemt needs to looking into the entertainment industry. There are lot of opportunity in there that can better the economy.
“The entertainment industry is a goldmine. If the government can create an enabling environment, invest in training, and provide funding for creatives, it will not only empower the youths but also help grow the nation’s GDP”.
He further encouraged the government to recognise the economic potential of entertainers and support initiatives that promote Nigerian creativity at home and abroad.
Speaking on the upcoming show, Oluso-Agba revealed that IBD Foundation, Checkers African Limited
and other notable organizations will sponsor the event, assuring that it will be a night of laughter, inspiration, and positive energy.
His words “It is turning into a global event. From the very beginning, we started with the mindset that Unscripted would go global.
“Over the years, we began from Richton Hotel, follow by Spices, Continental Suites, and now we are moving to the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library for the 4th edition. It has truly been a journey of consistency and growth.
“We want to create an atmosphere where people can laugh, reflect, and connect,” he added.
The show, “The Confession,” is set to hold on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at the prestigious Marque of the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL), Abeokuta, Ogun State.
