Nursing Mother Vows To Win Gold Medal For Ogun In National Sports Festival
Team Ogun darts player who is nursing a 10 months old baby, Lolade Adeyemi said her coming to Delta was to win Gold medal for the state.
Adeyemi, who is in Asaba with her 10 months old boy said motherhood won’t deter her from achieving her dream of leaving Asaba with gold medals.
The 37 years old who won four gold medals for the Gate way State to emerge the best athlete in the game of Darts at the 20th National Sports Festival in Edo, has won one gold and a bronze medal in the on going festival said that motherhood has not affected her preparation for the games.
“I was fully ready for these games, that is the reason why I had a bronze and a gold medal” Adeyemi said.
Adeyemi added that it has been though for her to combine training and playing her role as a mother but thank God for making it possible for her to achieve the dream.
Ogun state athletes are participating in 29 out of 39 Sporting events slated for the sporting festival continue to maintain their stand on the medal chart.
A bronze medalist at the last common wealth Games in Birmingham, Ogunkunle Ishau has won one gold in men’s single class four and one silver in men’s 4-5 class team event said he was happy to be one of the participants in the 21st National Sports Festival, Delta 2022, adding that after all the months of rigorous training and preparations the moment of truth came to show the world the stuff that he was made of.
Another athlete, who is the captain of team Ogun cycling, Emmanuel Agbebi whose team won first gold medal for the state in cycling team 4km pursuit said he was delighted for achieving the feat.
“I am particularly delighted and grateful to his Excellency Prince Dapo Abiodun, an acknowledged lover of sports who sponsored and provided funds for Asaba 2022 sports festival that made it possible for me and my team to showcase our God given talents. I promise that more golds medal should be expected from the team” Agbebi said.
Team Ogun Golfer gold medal winner, Jide owolabi with another silver medal in his kitty said his target while coming to the festival was to win Gold medal again and again.
” My plan while coming to Asaba for the games was to win gold medals again and again and I thank God for helping me to do that which I purposed in my heart” he said.
Fashina Adelola Amudat, who won bronze in Taolu event (Demonstration) at Asaba disclosed that she would strive harder in her next game to win Gold medal, adding that her purpose of coming to the Festival is to showcase her talent to the whole world.
In another interview, Latifat Tijani, a para power lifting gold medalist at the last common wealth Games in Birmingham, United Kingdom won another Gold medal in the on-going National sports Festival said she was so happy and encouraged the youth to be inspired and use their God given talents to better their selves and the country rather than engaging in all sorts of vices.
All the athletes appreciated the governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun and the state government for the opportunity given to them to participate in the festival saying they see it as a clarion call to serve the state.
They also eulogised the commissioner for youth and sports, Dr. Oluwadare Kehinde and his team for the encouragement and support to keep them in their best form through adequate provision for their needs.
Team Ogun so far have won 40 medals comprising of 10 gold medals, 8 silver and 22 bronze medals.
