Ogun Appoints Segun Odegbami as Grand Sports Ambassador for National Sports Festival

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has announced the appointment of legendary Nigerian footballer, Chief Segun Odegbami, as the Grand Sports Ambassador of Ogun State ahead of the 22nd National Sports Festival.
This prestigious event is scheduled to take place from May 16 to 30, 2025.
According to Governor Abiodun, Odegbami’s legacy and leadership in Nigerian sports embody the values the festival aims to showcase.
Abiodun noted that the state has been working tirelessly to finalize world-class facilities at venues such as the M.K.O. Abiola Stadium and the Alake Sports Centre.
He stressed that a dedicated Games Village will also be hosting all contingents for the first time, promoting unity and collaboration among participants.
Abiodun’s words: “The festival is not just a competition; it’s a platform for national unity, youth development, and growth of the sports economy.
“Ogun State Commissioner for Sports Development, Wasiu Isiaka, expressed confidence in the state’s readiness to compete favorably, with over 742 athletes participating across various sports disciplines.
“The festival aims to redirect the focus of the state’s youth towards sports, teaching valuable life lessons like discipline, teamwork, and resilience.
“Notably, boxing sensation Anthony Joshua and athlete Tobi Amusan have also been appointed as sports ambassadors, highlighting the state’s commitment to promoting sports development.
“The M.K.O. Abiola Stadium has undergone significant upgrades, including a new athletics track and hybrid astroturf football pitch.
“The Alake Sports Centre has also been transformed, showcasing the state’s investment in sports infrastructure .
