Ogun: Community Leaders Rally Behind Olakunle to Fill Orile Imo Vacant Stool

After over a decade of vacancy, the revered stool of the Olu of Orile Imo community in Obafemi Owode Local Government of Ogun State is set to be occupied once again, as community chiefs have unanimously endorsed Chief Olalekan Olakunle as the next king.
The decision marks the end of a 12-year period without a monarch and brings renewed hope for the community’s future.
The former Olu of Orile Imo, Oba Kolawole Olatuni, a highly respected traditional ruler, played a significant role in matters of governance, culture, and communal development before his passing over a decade ago.
Since then, the search for a worthy successor has been ongoing, with the community eagerly awaiting a leader who can carry on the rich traditions and guide them towards progress.
In a historic gathering held at the community’s central square, the chiefs and elders of Orile Imo convened to discuss the pressing matter of filling the vacant stool.
After extensive deliberations and careful consideration, Chief Olalekan Olakunle emerged as the favored candidate to ascend the throne.
While addressing the press at the gathering, the Orile Imo Chief-in-council which spoke through Chief Adesegun Okesola disclosed that “Chief Olakunle, a distinguished and well-respected member of the community, has dedicated his life to the betterment of Orile Imo.
” His commitment to community development, exemplary leadership skills, and profound understanding of the community’s customs and values have endeared him to both the young and old.
“Among the best, he is one of the best. He is a resident of Orile-Imo. When we have our first Oba, he had been in the forefront in the developmental stride of this community.
“He has also suceeded in bringing industries to Orile Imo. He was the achitecht through the state government when it comes to industrial development in Orile Imo so he knows everything about this community.
His words “Also, he has done so well in terms of philanthropic activities. He has empowered so many people within and outside the country. He has been there in ameliorating the problem of the community.
” He is so loved by the community and so supportive, generous, cheerful. With all of these he has an edge over others who are vying for the stool.’
