Ogun Prophet, Mathias Adeyinka Breaks Silence After Court Jails Popular Broadcaster Agba-Oro for Defamation

The General Overseer of Calvary Redemption Prayer Ministries, Abeokuta, Ogun state, Prophet Mathias Adeyinka has narrated how a prolonged defamation campaign against him and his ministry by a popular radio presenter, Oluwasina Amodu, popularly known as Agba-Oro, eventually led to a court judgment that sentenced the broadcaster to two years imprisonment.
Prophet Adeyinka, while addressing journalists at his ministry’s headquarters in Abeokuta on Friday, described the entire ordeal as a painful experience that tested his faith and patience but reaffirmed his belief in the rule of law.
According to him, the problem began in February 2024 when Amodu, an on-air personality at Smash 88.1 FM, allegedly began broadcasting a series of defamatory programs against him, accusing him of being a serial killer, fraudster, and ritualist, among other allegations.
The prophet disclosed that the broadcasts ran for 13 consecutive weekends between February and April 2024, each lasting two hours.
Prophet Adeyinka recounts “He used his radio platform to call me names, making baseless allegations that I buried corpses within the church premises and kept people in dungeons.
“He even went as far as posting the same falsehoods across social media platforms, tarnishing not only my image but that of the entire Christian community.”
“Despite the severity of the accusations, he did not retaliate or take laws into his hands but rather petitioned the Ogun State Police Command, requesting a thorough investigation into the claims.
“I told the Commissioner of Police then, Mr. Abiodun Alamutu, to investigate me and the ministry. I said if I was guilty, I should be charged to court,” he said.
Prophet Adeyinka explained that during the police investigation, Agba-Oro was unable to produce any concrete evidence to substantiate his claims.
The supposed witnesses, two former members of the ministry identified as reportedly denied some of the allegations during interrogation.
He said “He bragged on air that he had countless pieces of evidence, but when the police asked him to present them, he had none. Even those he claimed gave him information later denied saying such things.
“Following failed mediation efforts, the police charged Amodu and his two alleged accomplices to court in May 2024 for defamation and malicious broadcasting”
Prophet Adeyinka said the matter dragged on until August 4, 2025, when Senior Magistrate Tayo of Magistrate Court Hall 4, Abeokuta, delivered judgment, sentencing Agba-Oro to two years and one month imprisonment, while the two others were each sentenced to seven months with hard labour.
Meanwhile, the Prophet has insisted that the radio station be accountable for allowing its platform to be used for such a malicious broadcast capable of destroying lives.
The cleric called on the public to always verify information before spreading it and urged journalists to continue to uphold professional ethics in their reportage.
