Ogun SWAN Media Cup: Who Will Win The Trophy?
The Sport Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has concluded plans on the second edition of its Media Cup for journalists in Ogun State.
The competition according to the SWAN Chairman, Akeem Akintunde is to bring all the practicing journalists in Ogun state together in order to further strengthen the bond among them.
“Media men should also have time to recreate, especially sport writers and that is why I am going to say a very big thank you to Otunba Segun Sowunmi for bankrolling this competition.”
The SWAN Secretary, Michael-Azeez Ogunsiji noted that the competition is a 5-Aside Football competition among practicing journalists in the state.
His words “The competition is sponsored by a sports enthusiast and public analyst, Otunba Segun Showunmi.
“The football tourney is designed in a knockout format will hold between June 1 – 8, 2023.
Ogunsiji said 16 media stations in Ogun state and chapels under the umbrella of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Council have shown interest to participate in the one-week event.
He said all matches will be played at the fun turf of MKO Abiola International
stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta.
He noted that the competition is to foster unity and camaraderie among journalists in the state.
The Association, therefore, urged all media stations and NUJ Chapels to play according to the rules of the game.
