Ogun To Commence Construction Of Smart Classrooms In 238 Public Schools

Ogun State Government has disclosed that it has commenced construction of smart classrooms in 238 public secondary schools across the 20 local governments of the state.
According to the Commissioner of Education Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, the creation of smart classrooms is to create a conducive environment for teaching and learning in the state .
The commissioner who disclosed this on Tuesday at a media parley in Oke-Mosan Abeokuta, the State capital, equally said that the Dapo Abiodun led-administration will be constructing 12 mega classrooms with capacity to accommodate 900 learners each in four divisions of the State, to further decongest number of learners in classrooms, particularly in the 42 flagship schools
Arigbabu stated that the smart classrooms are being constructed in 72 of the designated secondary schools including the flagship schools under the first phase of the project
The schools, according to him, are being equipped with required teaching aides to make learning conducive for learners.
Arigbabu said “The state will establish mega smart classrooms in some of our flagship schools and our plan is to turn those other schools into model schools.
“This administration will construct 12 mega classrooms with capacity to accommodate 900 learners each in four divisions of the State, to further decongest number of learners in classrooms, particularly in the 42 flagship schools
“A one storey school is being constructed in Akute area of the State, with eight classrooms almost completed and ready for commissioning later in the month, as part of moves by the present administration to decongest classrooms in public secondary schools
He assured that government would continue to expand the facilities in the existing schools and build more schools, if necessary to make classrooms conducive for teaching and learning
Meanwhile, the Education Commissioner has dislosd that 2,000 of the 4,000 teachers
under OgunTeach Internship initiative were given permanent employment undsr the Abiodun administration, while the remaining 2,000 would be offered permanently employment before the end of the year.
Governor Abiodun according to the commissioner ,is concluding plan to inject fresh 2,000 teachers to further address shortage of teachers in public schools and under OgunTeach Internship scheme, to bring the total number of new teachers to 6,000 in the over five years of the administration
