Ogun Women Affairs Ministry Achieves 58 Percent Revenue Target Within Nine Months
The Ogun State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development says it has so far achieved over 58% of its revenue target for the 2023 fiscal year in its bid to building a just society devoid of discrimination against women, ensure continuous empowerment and protection of the rights of children.
The State Commissioner in charge of the Ministry, Hon. Adijat Adeleye represented by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Melutia Ogunremi, stated this today while appearing before the House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development led by Hon. Olanrewaju Bakare at the ongoing 2023 budget performance appraisal at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
The Commissioner assured that the Ministry would continue to invest in women, men, young and old in a gender responsive manner through approaches for sustainable development of the State.
Responding, the members of the House Committee led by Hon. Bakare commended the Ministry with a task to them to further synergize with the Assembly members with a view to ensuring that all target groups and individuals identified in their programmes are reached seamlessly through their representatives.
OGUN ASSEMBLY CHALLENGES MINISTRY OF JUSTICE ON REVIEWS OF LAWS, DIGITAL PUBLICATION
Ogun State House of Assembly has challenged the State Ministry of Justice to set machineries in motion towards ensuring the immediate review of obsolete laws with a view to enabling them conform with societal realities.
The Assembly through its Committee on Justice led by Hon. Oluseun Adesanya, gave the charge today, while officials of the Ministry led by the representative of the Permanent Secretary, who is also the Director of Library Services in the Ministry, Mr. Abdulazeez Ajidele presented the Ministry’s budget performance at the ongoing third quarter of the 2023 budget performance appraisal held at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
The Committee Chairman in company of Honourables Musefiu Lamidi, Babatunde Tella, Lukman Adeleye, Yusuf Amosun and Dickson Awolaja, noted that members of the public needed to be sensitised about the laws, with a view to ensuring a more informed and educated society.
Hon. Adesanya stated that such initiave would aid digital access to the different volumes of the law via a dedicated website.
The Committee equally commended the Ministry for attaining its revenue target for the 2023 financial year, adding that more could still be achieved through improved efforts.
Earlier in their remarks, the representative of the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Ajidele and the Chief Registrar, Customary Court of Appeal, Olawunmi Oladunjoye, who presented their budgetary performance reports for the period under review, said that they were poised to ensuring seamless dispensation of justice to the people.
Also, the Executive Secretary, Judicial Service Commission, Martins Akinyemi, while presenting the Commission’s achievements, assured that it was committed to promoting efficiency in service delivery in order to aid justice dispensation, especially for the indigent.
