Ogun workers describe Dapo Abiodun incompetent, Declares indefinite strike
Workers in Ogun state have asked governor Dapo Abiodun to resign over 21 months of unpaid workers’ deductions.
The workers at a Congress held at the state secretariat, Oke-mosan, Abeokuta also announced the decision of the organized labour leaders to commence indefinite strike begining from tomorrow.
Addressing the workers, the state NLC chairman, Comrade Emmanuel Bankole argued that governor Abiodun’s inability to pay meet their demands is a sign of incompetent.
The workers accused the state Government of not honouring a clause of the 2020 Memorandum of Understanding on joint review of the agreement signed to suspend the industrial action two years ago.
Other fault melted on the state government was non remittance of contributory pension and non implementation of the statutory consequential adjustment of 33.3% to the state pension.
Others are inadequate quarterly release of five hundred million naira to offset backlog of gratuities for over twelve years amounting to sixty eight billion naira, non Payment of eight years Leave Allowance and non conduct of promotion interview for year 2021 and 2022.
Bankole said “It is unexplainable that government is witholding 21 months deduction. Of over three years we continue to engage them on contributive pension and yet they are not ready to talk with us, what that means us that is telling us is that if we don’t take our destiny in our owner hands, it would continue. Our future is in great jeopardy.
“This state belongs to all of us. Governance is a serious business, whoever is not ready this is the time to tell him or her to go home.
“There’s no reason whatsoever, that after negotiation of minimum wag, the right of pensioners as guaranteed by the constitution of this country is that the minimum pension should be reviewed and yet the state government is dragging.
” I have told the retirees to relax that we will fight the battle for them and of we fail to act now, our own case may be worst. There’s no going back
