Okebukola Emphasises Digital Competency Training to Support Young Creative Artists

 

A former  Chairman of the Nigerian University Commission (NUC), Professor Peter Okebukola has emphasized the importance of Protecting Young Artists in the Digital Environment.

 Okebukola,  made the remark while addressing participants at a workshop organized for young on the subject of “Protecting Young Creative Artists in the Digital Environment” at the Olusegun  Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL), Abeokuta, Ogun state.

 

The workshop which was organized by the UNESCO Institute of African Culture and International Understanding (IACIU) on Thursday, centered around the urgent need for digital competency training to empower and safeguard the interests of young and aspiring artists in today’s ever-evolving artistic landscape.

 

 Professor Okebukola who is the Director  of the institute lights on the unprecedented opportunities and challenges facing young artists in an era characterized by the blurring boundaries between the physical and digital worlds.

 

He Said “Digital Competency Training” was a focal point of the discussion led by Professor Okebukola. This lens aims to provide aspiring artists with the necessary skills to navigate the complexities of the digital landscape confidently. The goal is to empower them to harness the advantages of the digital environment while being aware of the potential risks.

 

“The physical and digital worlds blur, where the canvas extends beyond paper, and the stage reaches global audiences through screens, our young and aspiring artists face both unprecedented opportunities and challenges.

 

“The digital environment presents a dynamic canvas for artistic expression, but it also exposes our creative talents to risks, from cyber threats to intellectual property challenges”, he added.
