The Diocesan Bishop of Ilesa Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Rt Rev. Dapo Asaju has faulted Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, leader of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye and that of the Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor Kumuyi for not showing concern over the ‘Killing of Christians in various parts of the nation’.

Asaju lamented that Osinbajo, despite being the Vice President and a pastor could not raise a red flag against the killing of his fellow Christians, especially in the northern party of the nation because of political expediency.

The Professor of Philosophy and former Vice Chancellor of Ajayi Crowder University, spoke at the celebration of 180 years of Christianity in Nigeria, held at the Cathedral Church of St. James, Ota, Ogun state.

Despite the menace, Asaju said Adeboye, Kumuyi and Oyedepo focus attentions on building cathedrals and purchasing private jets rather than defending the christian faith.

He said “I talked to the Vice President, I said you are the vice president of Nigeria and a Pastor and because of political expediency they are killing your people and you are still part of this government, what are you still doing there? I said if he doesn’t do anything, help will come from another person. He should be ashamed. Osinbajo didn’t like it but do I care?

He advised them to work with the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Pentecostals Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) to tackle the current administration against the killing of Christian.

“I talked to Kumuyi to call Adeboye and Oyedepo to stop building of empires and gathering large congregation for now and focus on defending the christian faith. I told them to work with CAN and PFN to confront this government and tell that enough is enough but Kumuyi replied me and said their own understanding is that God has separated physical matter from spiritual matter.”

Bishop of the Diocese of Awori, Rt Revr. Bishop Johnson Awere expressed disappointed in Osinbajo, saying he is not doing enough to defend the Christian faith in Nigeria.

Awere told Christians in the country to rise in self-defence against incessant killings and attack on churches.

“Self Defence doesn’t mean that you have violated your Christian virtue. You cannot just allow yourself to be Killed just like that. Even the constitution of Nigeria and the bible supposed self-defence. In the old and the new testament, people walk about with cautiousness because right from time, there have been bandits.

He stated “If there are bandits in the society today, killing your people, it is not just enough to preach heaven to them, let them live this world, don’t let them have premature death so whatever you can do to keep them here, do it also. They have to live happily in this world then go and complete the rest in heaven. You must be radical, Jesus himself was radical”.q
