Student Bodies Blast CUPP Over Allegation Against Gov Abiodun

Students bodies in Ogun state have blasted the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) over its recent allegation against the Dapo Abiodun-led government.
The CUPP had in a Press conference accused the current administration in the State of nepotism, saying that governor Abiodun favours only Ogun East in key appointments
The Coalition during the press conference, also condemned the appointment of an Ondo State indigene as the governor’s Special Adviser on Information and Media, describing it as an affront to Ogun State professionals.
But the student bodies, under the umbrella of the National Association of Ogun State Students (NAOSS) and The National Association of Nigerian Students ( NANS Ogun JCC) condemned the CUPP, describing the accusation as ‘unwarranted and unnecessary vituperation targeted at Governor Dapo Abiodun.”
Addressing a Press conference in Abeokuta on Wednesday, NAOSS National President, Comrade Kehinde Mathew Thomas said the CPP has turned itself into a puppet being strung by a political ventriloquist, who pays them to do his own dirty job.
Displeased, the NAOS Chairman lambasted CUPP, describing it as a coalition, populated by members of political parties that have been deregistered by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Thomas said “Ordinarily, NANS and NAOSS would not have concerned Ourselves with political matters, but, as Ogun State students and whose parents are stakeholders in Ogun state, Our Associations decided to organize this press conference to caution CUPP.

Soluade, we have observed, has abandoned constructive criticism and busied itself with tirades and unfounded allegations against the state governor.
“The recentity of such nitwit activity of the CUPP was the announcement of its intention to take legal action against the governor over what it described as attempts to undermine the rights and welfare of civil servants in the state. To NANS Ogun and NAOSS National this is not only laughable but a low one from a group of charlatans.
Reacting to CUPP allegation that Abiodun strip civil servants of the rights to land and housing that were originally allocated to them under past administration, the student bodies wondered if the coalition chairman should know that the workers’ houses demolished in the state were not permanently allocated to civil servants in the first place.
Thomas stated that the allegation shows that CUPP has lost steam and hungry for a patronage from the governor, hence, the incessant attacks on him.
“With these allegations highlighted by the CUPP, it clearly showed that the body has lost direction and has become rudderless. Oftentimes, the state government has clarified its intention on the reinvention of the Government Residential Areas (GRAs) in the state, particularly the one at Ibara, which is the flagship.
“Also, Soluade should know that civil servants were adequately carried along by the state government when the idea of rebuilding the GRAs was conceived. In fact, extensive vacation notices were issued to the affected workers, while the then Head of Service held a series of meetings with workers to explain the rationale behind the government’s decision.
“One would wonder why CUPP is crying more than the bereaved on the matter? Even, an elder statesman in the person of former President Olusegun Obasanjo and traditional rulers endorsed the project.
