We Have Reconstructed Over 80 Major Fed, State Roads Across Ogun In Three Years – Abiodun

The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has disclosed that more than 80 state and federal roads have been reconstructed across the state since the inception of his administration.
The governor made the disclosure while inaugurating the 4 km two lane dual carriage Oba Erinwole Road in Sagamu Local Government of the state on Monday.
Abiodun, during the inauguration ceremony which was attended by traditional rulers; politicians; members of different transport unions; leaders of Community Development Associations, noted that the road was long neglected to serve as punishment targeted at a former governor of the state in particular, and indeed the people of Remoland, in general, by those he described as “narrow minded politicians of yesteryears.”
Abiodun boasted that his administration has performed better than previous administrations in the state in three years in terms of kilometres of roads,
despite inheriting several abandoned road projects from the former governor Ibikunle Amosun.
He further explained that the road, which served as a link between Sagamu and Ikorodu in Lagos State, would improve the standard of living of residents and others who live and work in the area.
He said “Till date, over 80 major roads and others (Federal roads inclusive) totalling 400km have been constructed, reconstructed or rehabilitated across the State.
“This administration in three years and six months has done more in terms of kilometres of roads than previous administrations in the State
“Let me note that at the inception of our Administration, we inherited numerous roads that were in a terrible state and had been left unattended by the previous Government. This is inconsistent with the Ogun State of our collective dreams and the sophistication that people talk about us as a people.
“For us, we realized that the majority of these roads have direct bearing on the economic circumstances of our people. One of such neglected roads is this Oba Erinwole Road. We are so confident that the completion of these roads will improve the standard of living of residents and others who live, work and come here to play.
Earlier in his remark, the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engineer Ade Akinsanya stressed that the road in the past has elevated poverty among residents of the area before the intervention of the current administration.
He added that the read, despite being considered as economic gateway of the state and major link to Ikorodu, an industrial hub was left unattended to by past administration.
Akinsanya said “This is one of the efforts of the governor in making life easy for the people. The road is a major way from Ikorodu to Remoland and an economic gateway. It has elevated poverty and suffering for the people over the years.
Also, the Akarigbo of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi who lauded the efforts of the governor noted that the reconstructed Oba Erinwole road was one of the deplorable roads in the entire state.
The elated monarch said that Abiodun’s administration would remain a reference point in terms of governance in the state.
His words “This was one of the deplorable roads in Ogun State. This administration will be a reference point in terms of governance in Ogun state.”
