The Ogun state government has responded to allegations by the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) that governor Abiodun and some of his executives are intimidating its members.
The CUPP had, during a press conference addressed by its Chairman, Otunba Femi Soluade in Abeokuta on Wednesday alleged that the Governor, the SSG and the SA to the governor on Media and Strategy, Mr Kayode Akinmade are intimidating its members.
The coalition claims that government vehicles with covered plates have been trailing its members, further fueling their fears and suspicion.
But while reacting to the allegation, Special Adviser to Governor Abiodun on Media and Strategy, Mr Kayode Akinmade described the CUPP as a group that is after “bread and butter”.
Mr Akinmade described the allegation as irrelevant , insisting that governor Abiodun is busy with the business of rebuilding the and that the government would not allow distraction from the CUPP.
Akinmade also stressed that the Dapo Abiodun’s administration will not afford to trade words with “people who have no relevance”, adding that the government would not allow the CUPP to create distraction in its move to rebuild the state.
He said “How do you expect us to be trading words with people who have no relevance. They are looking for bread and butter and we believe that the government is a serious business and we cannot allow these menus to create distraction for the government.
“Even IPAC that is recognised by INEC has come out to say that CUPP consists of people who have run the affairs of IPAC before and after losing election, they created an illegal coalition so we cannot be reacting to illegal organisation.”
