We Will Provide Financial Incentive For Police, Tinubu Vows

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has vowed that his administration will provide financial incentive for security agencies, especially the Nigerian Police to effectively police the nation.
According to the president, financial incentive serves as one of the motivating factors for security personnel to effectively carry out their constitutional duties.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 2025 conference and retreat for senior police officers in Abeokuta, Ogun state capital on Monday, the President who was represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima also called for synergy between the police and the Nigerians to combat crime and criminality.
Tinubu argued that his administration’s effort to provide adequate security will be futile if members of the community fail to work hand-in-hand with the Nigerian Police.
To this end, the President however called for synergy between Nigerians and security agencies to effectively secure the lives and properties of the people.
The President said “We will continue to collaborate with the police leadership to provide financial incentives to motivate officers and all security personnel to perform at their highest levels. We remain committed to supporting them in their crucial work of keeping Nigeria Safe and united.
“While the police force is constitutionally empowered to maintain internal security, protect lives and properties, it is important to understand that security is a shared responsibility. Communities and citizens must actively collaborate with the police to foster a safer society.
“Our administration has prioritised strengthening our security agencies under operational capability, ensuring that they are well equipped to combat emergencies and effectively combat crime.
“ I reaffirm our administration’s commitment to enhancing the institutional capacity of the Nigerian police force, ensuring it is more effective and well positioned to carry out its constitutional mandate in internal security. Retaining a competent workforce while fostering a supportive work environment.
Speaking on the theme “Improving Nigeria’s Internal Security and Economic Prosperity Through Inclusive Policing’, the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun noted that the force is working on a more effective society policing approach to addressing current security challenges and enhancing economic prosperity.
The police boss also stressed the Nigeria Police determination to cultivate a police force that is professionally competent and intellegence-driven, hence, the need work in tandem with President Bola Amend Tinubu’s security vision.
“The Police force is committed to deepening strategic partnerships with both domestic and international security agencies while enhancing community engagement to bolster public trust and promote active citizen participation in policing.
“Recognizing the growing threat of cybercrime, we have strengthened the Nigeria Police Force National Cyber Crime Centre (NPF-NCCC), complemented by the Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing Unit.
“These units, in collaboration with the Special Fraud Unit (SFU), are actively working to combat financial crimes and ensure Nigeria’s compliance with international security and financial regulations,” he added
Also, the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun lauded the efforts of men of the Nigerian Police in providing adequate security in the state, while stressing that his administration will continue to provide the needed supports for the police to effectively carry out their constitutional role in the state.
Abiodun noted that his administration’s success in the area of security is as a result the effectiveness of the police force and other security agencies.
“The effort of the police in safeguarding our dear state cannot be underestimated. Our administration has recorded success in the area of security with the help of the police.
“ We will continue to provide the needed support for the police to provide their constitutional duties of saving the lives and properties of our people.
